Amazon's Last Mile Technology is at the forefront of developing innovative solutions to enhance the efficiency and customer experience of last-mile delivery. We are dedicated to pioneering new technologies that address the unique challenges within this critical logistics phase.
Our OnRoad Transporter X platform is central to this mission. It revolutionizes package delivery by employing intelligent routing, real-time optimization, and seamless integration across Amazon's extensive delivery network. This technology underpins vital speed initiatives, including Quick Commerce (QCX), Fusion Rush grocery deliveries, SWIFT ultra-fast deliveries, and Premium SSD, ensuring customers receive their orders with the speed they expect.
We are seeking skilled Software Development Engineers to design and construct these essential backend systems and products. Your role will involve tackling complex, large-scale challenges and enjoying the autonomy to create solutions with significant impact.
You will be instrumental in developing and maintaining tier-1 services such as FIPS (FlexItineraryProviderService), which serves as the API gateway between Rabbit mobile applications and backend services, and IM (Itinerary Manager), responsible for sequencing transporter stops and tasks. Your contributions will directly influence innovative projects like Revy (reverse logistics optimization) and support the broader Speed program portfolio, enabling rapid deliveries for groceries, SWIFT, FUSION, and Quick Commerce services.
This opportunity offers a deep dive into real-time adaptive transportation solutions, sophisticated routing algorithms, and large-scale data optimization handling millions of daily delivery decisions. You will gain expertise in distributed systems architecture for high-throughput services, API design patterns for mobile-to-backend communication, and integration with P2P Transport Request Services (PTRS).
Furthermore, you will work with complex event-driven architectures, essential for maintaining the reliability and performance standards Amazon customers rely on. The role involves building systems that support offline delivery execution, secure data handling on unmanaged devices, bandwidth optimization for global markets, and providing real-time visibility for operational dispatchers. A minimum of 3 years of professional software development experience, including 2 years in system design and architecture, along with 3 years of experience in developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, or distributed software applications using languages like C#, C++, Java, or Perl is required. Experience with at least one programming language is also necessary. A Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field is preferred, alongside experience in the full software development lifecycle.
