Job description

Join Amazon's AWS Compliance & Security Assurance team as a Software Development Engineer II, focusing on Denied Party Screening. This role is crucial for preventing prohibited entities from engaging with Amazon businesses through sophisticated algorithms and machine learning. You'll tackle significant scaling and throughput challenges within a dynamic 'Day 1' environment, contributing to an exciting roadmap for detection and resolution systems.

We are seeking an engineer with a passion for complex, early-stage problem-solving. Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, you'll shape customer experiences and safeguard the Amazon brand. If you possess an entrepreneurial drive, a knack for delivery, technical prowess, innovation, and an interest in building relationship-optimized (graph) systems, we invite you to connect with us.

Amazon Security is committed to fostering a culture that values diverse experiences and perspectives. We encourage all qualified candidates to apply, even if they don't meet every listed qualification. If your career path is non-traditional or includes alternative experiences, your application is welcome. We believe that addressing the most challenging security issues demands a variety of ideas and voices.

Responsibilities

As a Software Development Engineer in this critical role, your primary responsibilities will involve constructing large-scale, highly available, and low-latency distributed systems. You will collaborate closely with your team to design, implement, thoroughly test, release, and maintain software solutions characterized by high complexity.

Furthermore, you will be instrumental in proposing and developing novel, innovative solutions, rigorously refining them for production deployment. You will assume end-to-end ownership of key components essential for ensuring Amazon and its various businesses remain compliant with all relevant regulations.

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates should possess at least 3 years of professional software development experience, excluding internships. Additionally, a minimum of 2 years of experience in designing or architecting new and existing systems, demonstrating knowledge of design patterns, reliability, and scalability, is required.

Proficiency in at least one software programming language is a fundamental requirement. Experience throughout the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations, is highly preferred. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field is also a plus.
