As a Software Development Engineer II, you'll be instrumental in developing innovative speech-backed visual features for our range of screened Alexa devices, including Echo Show and Echo Spot. This role offers a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of new innovations for Alexa and contribute to products used by a global audience.
You will take ownership of developing and maintaining new systems, collaborating closely with internal Amazon teams and external partners as needed. A key focus will be ensuring Alexa's conversational abilities remain seamless, delivering low-latency services at Amazon's massive scale. Your work might involve device frameworks, web services, APIs, and large-scale data infrastructure, driving forward the capabilities of our devices.
Your opportunities include inventing novel Android-based user experiences, partnering with UX and Product teams to define product direction, and delivering high-quality software within a dynamic, team-focused Agile/Scrum environment. You’ll be responsible for the entire software development lifecycle, from concept to deployment.
We are seeking engineers with a strong foundation in software development, requiring at least 4 years of professional experience. A minimum of 4 years in designing or architecting new and existing systems, focusing on patterns, reliability, and scaling, is essential. Proficiency in at least one software programming language is a must.
While specific experience in certain technologies is not required, an enthusiasm for building advanced software, particularly in user interfaces, cross-device APIs, or cloud-based services, is highly valued. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred, alongside comprehensive experience across the full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
