Join Amazon Fulfillment Technologies (AFT) and power the engine behind Amazon's seamless delivery experience. Our Labor Insights team builds and operates a critical platform tracking associate labor performance across Amazon's global warehouse network. This suite of services supports over a million associates, processing billions of labor events annually to deliver real-time productivity reports vital for warehouse operations. We utilize AWS technologies, stream processing, and AI/ML to engineer highly available, distributed systems at an immense scale.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape the future of Amazon's labor management platform. You will design and develop systems that ingest vast amounts of labor data, aggregate it through sophisticated pipelines, and serve essential productivity reports to operations managers worldwide. You'll own the design and development of distributed systems ensuring high availability and rapid report refreshes across multiple global regions.
Your contributions will span event processing, aggregation engines, reporting APIs, modern React-based portals, and AI-powered configuration tools. A key initiative involves rebuilding the platform from the ground up with a modern, stream-based architecture, eliminating technical debt and delivering near real-time metrics. You will be involved in the complete software development lifecycle, from initial concept through delivery, requiring strong teamwork, communication, and exceptional technical expertise.
Design, develop, and test software components for labor event ingestion, aggregation, reporting, and configuration. Build new services leveraging AI-assisted development tools for rapid greenfield development. Engineer large-scale data processing solutions using a variety of AWS services like DynamoDB, PostgreSQL, S3, SQS/SNS, EventBridge, and Lambda. Drive modernization efforts, migrating legacy infrastructure to a native AWS environment with robust CI/CD pipelines. Participate in defining and enforcing coding standards through code and design reviews. Provide development task estimates and negotiate project timelines. Mentor junior team members, fostering skill development and best practices. Communicate technical concepts clearly to team members and stakeholders. Engage in deep technical discussions, advocating for innovative solutions. Proactively identify and mitigate technical and project risks.
Minimum of 3 years of professional software development experience, excluding internships. At least 2 years of experience in designing or architecting new and existing systems, focusing on patterns, reliability, and scaling. Proficiency in at least one core software programming language. A strong understanding of the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations. Experience with AWS services such as DynamoDB, PostgreSQL, S3, SQS/SNS, EventBridge, and Lambda is highly preferred. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field is desirable.
