Join a dynamic team focused on building the future of ultra-fast delivery! This role offers a unique opportunity to leverage cutting-edge computer science principles and construct large-scale distributed systems that directly enhance customer experiences. You will be instrumental in developing the next generation of Quick Commerce (QC) fulfillment technology from its inception.
Amazon's QC business is experiencing significant growth, with ambitious expansion plans. We are creating a brand-new QC fulfillment stack on AFT foundations, designed to power our micro-stores. This includes optimizing processes from inbound receiving and guided stowing to picking, staging, and last-mile handoff, enabling store associates to deliver delightful 10-minute delivery experiences to millions of customers.
This is a ground-floor opportunity where your contributions will profoundly shape Quick Commerce operations at Amazon. The ideal candidate thrives in an environment of high ownership and rapid iteration, committed to upholding the highest standards while building scalable, high-performing systems.
As a Software Development Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust, scalable services and APIs that form the backbone of the QC fulfillment stack. This includes creating systems that manage operational controls beyond traditional Amazon sites, extending to external fulfillment environments through partnerships.
You will collaborate closely with senior engineers, architects, technical program managers, and product managers to architect innovative technical solutions for large-scale fulfillment challenges. Writing clean, maintainable, and well-tested code is paramount, adhering to Amazon's engineering best practices.
Key responsibilities also involve driving continuous improvements in system performance, reliability, and operational efficiency, aiming for industry-leading speeds. Engaging in code reviews, design discussions, and technical planning sessions, along with mentoring junior engineers, are integral to raising the team's engineering standard. The role operates within a fast-paced, agile framework, emphasizing rapid iteration and shipping new features in weeks.
We are seeking candidates with a strong foundation in software development, evidenced by at least 3 years of professional experience (excluding internships). A minimum of 2 years of dedicated experience in designing or architecting new and existing systems, focusing on reliability and scaling, is also required.
Proficiency in at least one programming language is essential for this role. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred, alongside experience in full software development lifecycle practices, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
Experience working within fulfillment, logistics, or supply chain technology environments would be a significant asset. We encourage individuals who are passionate about contributing to both architecture and product strategy, while simultaneously building high-performance, scalable systems that directly impact Amazon's Quick Commerce operations and growth.
