This role is within our Conversational Agents team, focusing on Samvaad, our advanced voice and AI-driven dialogue platform. You will immerse yourself in challenging problems, receive rapid feedback, and contribute to tangible outcomes within a dynamic and innovative environment. Your work will directly shape the server-side logic, APIs, and platform orchestration that power AI conversations for millions.

As a Backend Engineer, you will architect and implement scalable APIs (REST/gRPC) and fault-tolerant systems, ensuring clean, testable code. You'll optimize database performance through schema design, query tuning (Postgres/NoSQL), and strategic caching. Delivering reliable releases with robust observability—metrics, logs, and traces—and maintaining backward compatibility are key.

You will actively participate in architectural discussions, identify and resolve scaling and latency issues, and drive enhancements in performance and reliability. Championing best practices, enforcing coding standards, mentoring colleagues, and staying abreast of backend and Generative AI advancements are integral. Building enterprise-grade software with a focus on security, privacy, and compliance is essential. Collaboration across teams, including integrating models, defining data contracts, and partnering with DevOps for seamless deployments, will be crucial.

We seek a seasoned backend developer with 5-8 years of experience, particularly in distributed systems and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes). Proficiency in Python and Go, coupled with hands-on experience with a major cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or Azure), is required.

A strong grasp of SQL (Postgres/MySQL) and NoSQL (Cassandra/ScyllaDB), including schema design, query optimization, and scaling, is essential. Experience with message brokers like Kafka or RabbitMQ, and a solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, and asynchronous programming patterns are necessary. Proficiency in building and scaling WebSocket/gRPC/WebRTC/REST APIs, along with familiarity with monitoring and tracing tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, OpenTelemetry), is expected.

Exceptional debugging skills with a focus on performance, scalability, and reliability are paramount. The ability to own features end-to-end, conduct code reviews, and drive process or architecture improvements is highly valued. Bonus points for full-stack experience, CI/CD pipeline setup, or significant contributions to open-source projects.
