Amazon Customer Service (CS) is transforming its network operations into an AI-native ecosystem. As a Software Development Engineer (SDE2) within Planning Intelligence (PI), you will be instrumental in building the predictive intelligence that drives CS value. This includes real-time demand forecasting, autonomous planning, scenario simulation, network design, and resource allocation optimization.
This role offers the opportunity to design, implement, and deliver cutting-edge software solutions that directly influence how millions of customers experience Amazon's support. You will contribute to building distributed systems that autonomously plan, simulate trade-offs, and optimize resource allocation across a global network.
You will own the design and delivery of software features, encompassing new development, refactoring, and deprecation. Solutions should align with long-term architectural strategies and address stakeholder business needs. Documenting software construction, testing, and operations, alongside actively training new team members, is essential.
You will be a key contributor across the full software development lifecycle, from scoping and design to deployment and maintenance. Proactively identify and implement operational improvements, conduct thorough code reviews, and ensure permanent fixes for root cause operational issues. Effective priority management between feature development and operational tasks is crucial.
We seek candidates with a minimum of 3 years of professional software development experience, excluding internships. Additionally, 2+ years of experience in designing or architecting new and existing systems, including familiarity with design patterns, reliability, and scaling principles, is required. Proficiency in at least one software programming language is mandatory.
Preferred qualifications include 3+ years of experience across the entire software development lifecycle, covering coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field is advantageous.
