Join our dynamic Merchant Tech team as a Software Development Engineer I (L4) on a Fixed-Term Contract. In this role, you will be instrumental in validating and verifying software quality, leveraging your expertise to enhance existing automation frameworks for various product features. You will contribute to the creation and improvement of testing tools, translating designs into robust, production-ready code.

This position emphasizes writing secure, stable, and maintainable code while demonstrating a strong understanding of data structures and algorithms. You will make informed implementation decisions and ensure all development practices adhere to company policies, preventing risks related to code licensing, production testing, and data handling.

Your responsibilities will include actively participating in team design discussions, contributing high-quality input to test plans, and developing a deep understanding of the business context and technologies powering our software. You will be a passionate advocate for our customers, ensuring our solutions meet evolving team needs and project objectives.

Take ownership of the code lifecycle, from production and testing to ensuring designs, code, and test plans undergo thorough review. You will be responsible for testing code extensively and classifying, storing, and handling data in strict accordance with company policies. Proactively identify, track, and mitigate or escalate risks in a timely manner. Develop a comprehensive understanding of software maintenance characteristics, runtime properties, and dependencies, including hardware, operating systems, and build configurations.

Your role is crucial in preventing bugs from impacting customer experience. You will clearly document your software solutions to ensure future developers can easily understand the intent behind your test implementations. This includes troubleshooting, researching root causes of problems, and effectively resolving defects. You will embrace ownership of issues, even those outside your direct area, proposing solutions and ensuring their resolution or a smooth hand-off to the appropriate owner. Additionally, you will contribute to the interview process and mentor Software Development Engineer-Trainee interns.

We are seeking an SDE with 1 to 3 years of experience. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering is a fundamental requirement.
