As a Software Development Engineer I, you will play a crucial role in validating and verifying software. You will collaborate with team members to determine the most effective software testing techniques. Your primary focus will be on extending and applying existing automation frameworks for various components and product features.
You will also have the opportunity to create or enhance existing test tools. Translating defined designs into robust code, you will deliver solutions on schedule by applying current software engineering best practices. The emphasis is on writing secure, stable, testable, and maintainable code with a minimal defect rate.
Proficiency in a wide range of data structures and algorithms is essential, along with the judgment to apply them appropriately. Making sound implementation trade-off decisions, such as choosing between an array or a hash table, is a key responsibility. You will ensure all work is conducted without compromising company security or best practices.
Furthermore, you will actively participate in team discussions on design, scoping, and prioritization. Your contributions to test plans and test cases will be of high quality and significant value. A commitment to understanding the business context and underlying technologies of your team's software is expected. You will innovate and refine solutions to meet team needs and project objectives, acting as a passionate advocate for the customer.
Take full ownership of the code you inherit, produce, and test. Ensure your designs, code, and test plans undergo thorough review. Execute comprehensive testing of your code. Classify, store, and handle data in strict accordance with company policies. Proactively identify, track, and mitigate or escalate risks in a timely manner.
Develop a deep understanding of the maintenance characteristics, runtime properties, and dependencies of your team’s software, including hardware platforms, operating systems, and build dependencies. Prevent bugs from impacting customer experience. Create clear and concise documentation for your software, ensuring future developers can easily understand the intent behind your test solutions.
Troubleshoot issues, research root causes of problems, and diligently resolve defects. Take initiative to own problems, even if they fall outside your immediate domain. Propose effective solutions and either ensure their resolution or facilitate a smooth handover to the appropriate owner. Contribute to the interview process and mentor SDE-T interns.
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering is required. You should possess 1 to 3 years of experience as a Software Development Engineer.
Preferred qualifications include exposure to AWS and full-stack development experience.
