Job description

Join NVIDIA, a pioneer in GPU technology and artificial intelligence. We are seeking a seasoned Senior Verification Engineer specializing in Emulation and Prototyping to contribute to our next-generation GPUs, SOCs, NICs, and Switches. This role is integral to ensuring the reliability and performance of our advanced silicon designs through cutting-edge emulation and FPGA platforms. If you thrive in a dynamic, collaborative environment and are passionate about pushing the boundaries of hardware verification, we encourage you to apply.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with sophisticated ASIC validation processes and contribute to the creation of realistic workloads that guarantee chip reliability. You will be instrumental in developing and optimizing emulation and FPGA environments, making them faster, more scalable, and highly efficient.

Responsibilities

Craft robust emulation and FPGA environments by adapting RTL for FPGA/emulation compatibility, partitioning designs, and managing synthesis, place-and-route, and compilation workflows.

Enhance the performance of emulation and FPGA platforms by identifying and resolving timing and performance bottlenecks, and generating necessary bitstreams or images.

Develop advanced DV Test benches leveraging C/SV for high-level abstraction, capable of running at FPGA speeds.

Execute bring-up activities for designs on hardware emulation and FPGA platforms, leading complex debugging and problem-solving efforts.

Scale verification methodologies for emulation and FPGA environments to accommodate extensive test plans.

Collaborate closely with architects, designers, verification engineers, validation teams, and software engineers to achieve project objectives.

Facilitate pre-silicon software development, validation, and performance analysis utilizing hardware emulation and FPGA environments.

Build and optimize emulation-friendly validation infrastructures, including high-performance software interfaces and scalable debug methodologies.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's or Master's degree (or equivalent experience) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field, coupled with over 5 years of demonstrated experience in FPGA prototyping and/or hardware emulation.

Possess a strong foundational understanding of FPGA prototyping and hardware emulation architectures, devices, workflows, and associated tools.

Demonstrate hands-on experience with simulators and emulators from various vendors.

Gain practical experience with emulation platforms such as Synopsys ZeBu, Siemens Veloce, or Cadence Z3. Familiarity with ProtoCompiler, Synplify Premier, or Xilinx Vivado is also beneficial.

Exhibit extensive knowledge in writing SV/Verilog code for TB-Emulator and integrating high-speed components.

Understand key industry-standard protocols including PCIe, CXL, NVLINK, USB, CHI, and CPU-GPU coherency.

Showcase strong expertise in developing and optimizing emulation-friendly C/C++ testbenches and transactors for efficient operation at emulation speeds. Experience in minimizing host-emulator communication bottlenecks, improving transaction throughput, and architecting scalable software-driven validation environments for high-performance SoCs and multi-ASIC systems is critical.

Exhibit the ability to develop efficient DPI/PLI/SystemC-based interfaces and software infrastructures that support high-speed validation, debug, and bring-up on hardware emulation platforms.

Additional strengths include proficiency in C/C++, Python, and Perl coding. Prior experience with hardware emulation or prototyping platforms for high-performance processors or SOCs is highly valued. Understanding performance-sensitive validation methodologies for large-scale emulation, including efficient logging, synchronization, memory handling, and protocol traffic generation, is advantageous. Experience enabling pre-silicon software validation, firmware bring-up, or system-level debug on emulation platforms is a plus. Familiarity with QEMU/KVM and scripting capabilities, as well as an understanding of Cadence/Synopsys/Siemens transactor solutions, will further set you apart.
