Job description

Join NVIDIA as a Senior System Software Safety Engineer and be at the forefront of building our Halos platform, a full-stack safety-critical system for physical AI. This role bridges the gap between ISO 26262 functional safety engineering and embedded systems development. You will work with rich operating systems, virtualization, and accelerated computing to create intelligent machines that sense, decide, and act.

NVIDIA is a leader in AI computing, driving innovation in gaming, visualization, supercomputing, and critical safety platforms for autonomous vehicles and robotics. Our unified computing architecture enables seamless training of deep neural networks in data centers and their deployment on NVIDIA's Halos platform in vehicles. Collaborate with industry experts on high-performance edge AI platforms, utilizing complex mixed-criticality software stacks across QNX, Linux, hypervisors, safety partitions, accelerators, and real-time AI workloads.

Responsibilities

Take ownership of the ISO 26262 functional safety lifecycle for NVIDIA Halos platform components, from planning through safety analysis for mixed-criticality software. Architect, design, and develop system software for the NVIDIA Halos OS across QNX, Linux, and hypervisor-based environments.

Leverage GenAI and AI-assisted engineering tools to enhance debugging, test development, code review, documentation, requirements analysis, and workflow automation. Address intricate issues requiring cross-component interactions within the large software stack. Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team growth.

Qualifications

We seek candidates with a Bachelor's or Master's degree, or equivalent experience, in Computer Science. A minimum of 8 years of experience in System Software architecture and development for real-time embedded systems is required, along with 4+ years of direct, hands-on ISO 26262 functional safety engineering experience.

A strong understanding of computer architecture and operating system fundamentals is essential. Proven experience in designing and developing solutions for complex system problems is necessary. Practical application of AI-assisted software development lifecycle methodologies is also required. We are looking for a self-motivated, results-oriented individual with excellent analytical and interpersonal skills who thrives in a team environment.
