As a T&S Ads Scams Analyst, your primary focus will be safeguarding users from offline scams originating outside the Google Ads platform. You will utilize data-driven insights to propose product enhancements and develop global and local strategies to outmaneuver fraudsters. Ensuring legitimate advertisers have optimal opportunities to serve will also be a key responsibility. You will employ advanced techniques like Applied AI and machine learning to refine human review processes, enhance cost-efficiency, and continuously identify enforcement gaps and automation potential. Success in this role involves leading projects from inception to completion through cross-functional collaboration.
Key responsibilities include: - Partnering with cross-functional teams like Product Management, Engineering, Sales, and Legal to advance projects that bolster user safety and enhance the online experience within Google Ads. - Executing intricate queries and analyses, developing visual models, and constructing presentations on abuse trends to inform fraud prevention strategies and influence improvements in abuse detection systems, while maintaining a positive advertiser experience. - Conducting thorough investigations to identify fraudsters, enforce product policies, understand scam patterns and trends, and pinpoint product vulnerabilities. - Identifying opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements, driving their implementation through data analysis or collaborative partnerships. - Participating in periodic on-call rotations and managing escalations from internal and external stakeholders within defined service level agreements, with awareness of potential exposure to sensitive content.
We are seeking candidates with a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience, coupled with at least 4 years of experience in data analytics, trust and safety, policy, cybersecurity, or a closely related domain. Proven experience in data analysis and effective stakeholder management is essential.
Preferred qualifications include a Master's or PhD degree in a quantitative discipline such as engineering, computer science, mathematics, or statistics. Proficiency in scripting and coding languages like C/C++, Python, or Java is highly valued. Prior experience in areas such as fraud or policy investigations, fraud risk management, internet advertising, or e-commerce is beneficial. Experience in business analysis or statistical/machine learning roles is also a plus. Exceptional problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with meticulous attention to detail in a dynamic environment, are crucial for success in this role.
