Join Google's pioneering team as a Senior Staff Software Engineer, contributing to the Napa Data Intelligence project. Napa is a state-of-the-art peta-scale distributed storage engine designed for high-throughput metric data updates. It offers materialized views, low-latency point queries, and efficient table scans, with consistent updates across data centers. This technology empowers data analysis for critical Google applications and services, operating within the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Foundation team.
Provide significant technical leadership on high-impact initiatives, effectively managing project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables. Influence and mentor a global team of engineers, fostering alignment and clarity on shared goals, outcomes, and timelines. Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and continuously enhance large-scale software solutions. Drive the productionization and deployment of core infrastructure components. Collaborate closely with infrastructure and client teams to ensure seamless integrations and optimal performance.
A Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience is essential. Minimum of 8 years of dedicated experience in software development. Significant experience (7 years) in building and developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems, networks, or related compute, storage, or hardware architecture. At least 5 years of experience in software design, architecture, and the complete lifecycle of testing and launching software products. Demonstrated expertise in distributed databases and experience with large-scale distributed systems. Proficiency in C++ is a core requirement.
Preferred qualifications include a Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. An additional 8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms. 5 years of experience in a technical leadership capacity, guiding project teams and defining technical direction. 3 years of experience navigating complex, matrixed organizations through cross-functional projects. Familiarity with SQL, database internals, and storage systems is highly beneficial.
