Job description

Join Mastercard as a Senior Software Integration Engineer and contribute to powering economies worldwide. This role is central to our mission of building a sustainable economy where everyone can prosper, offering diverse digital payment solutions that are secure, simple, smart, and accessible. Leverage cutting-edge technology and innovative partnerships to realize your full potential and help others do the same.

As a Senior Software Integration Engineer, you will play a key role in our SME team, independently tackling complex challenges and driving quality, engineering, and delivery objectives. Your expertise in agile methodologies, integration testing, and quality assurance will be crucial. You'll ensure seamless interactions across systems, services, APIs, and data flows, upholding the highest standards of quality and performance.

This position is designed for a proactive individual who can guide teams informally and foster the delivery of reliable, maintainable solutions. You will be instrumental in establishing and refining QA processes, preventing defects, optimizing performance, and enhancing customer satisfaction. Your contributions will directly impact our ability to provide robust and scalable integration solutions.

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will span the full quality engineering lifecycle. You will perform comprehensive QE activities including test planning, strategy development, validation, automation, and ensuring release readiness for assigned projects.

Collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams to elevate testing processes and reinforce quality practices. You will design, execute, and maintain robust integration tests to meticulously validate interactions between systems, services, APIs, data flows, interfaces, and their dependencies. A key focus will be establishing and upholding QA standards that proactively prevent defects, enhance overall quality, optimize performance, and meet customer expectations.

Apply agile work management principles for effective planning, prioritization, and execution within iterative delivery cycles. Partner with product owners and development teams to refine requirements, clarify acceptance criteria, manage changes, identify risks, and ensure testability throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Support all SDLC phases, from requirements and design through coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance, ensuring solutions remain high-quality and maintainable.

Contribute significantly to systems integration by validating communication, interoperability, and reliability across a diverse array of technologies, processes, applications, and services. Implement and support automated testing for UI, API, backend, and integration layers using tools like Playwright and Cypress. Support API performance testing and validation with tools such as Gatling and BlazeMeter. Troubleshoot intricate issues across various systems, applications, services, integrations, test environments, and networks using structured methodologies.

Evaluate developer source code to identify and address potential issues, enhance maintainability, improve quality, and ensure adherence to coding standards. Analyze workflows to identify bottlenecks, streamline procedures, monitor progress, allocate resources, and adapt processes for smooth operational flow. Contribute to CI/CD and DevOps practices by supporting automated test execution, version control, and integrating test automation into delivery pipelines.

Provide technical guidance and informal coaching to team members, support proof-of-concepts, and help teams adopt scalable and maintainable test automation practices. Clearly communicate project status, risks, dependencies, and quality insights to stakeholders and leadership. Champion agile principles, continuous learning, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement across the team.

Qualifications

We are seeking a seasoned professional with a strong foundation in quality engineering. You should possess extensive experience in test strategy, planning, automation, QA, and software validation across complex technology programs.

Demonstrate the ability to apply your skills independently and consistently in challenging or nuanced situations, while actively supporting broader business, delivery, and quality goals. A deep understanding of agile principles and practices, including planning, prioritization, iterative delivery, collaboration, adaptability, and continuous improvement, is essential.

Showcase practical experience collaborating with developers to review source code, identify potential issues, improve maintainability, and promote coding standards. Hands-on experience with UI and API automation tools like Playwright and Cypress is required. You should have a strong background in API integration testing and backend validation, along with experience designing and maintaining integration tests that validate data flows, interfaces, dependencies, web services, and system interactions.

Experience with API performance testing and familiarity with tools such as Gatling and BlazeMeter are highly valued. A thorough understanding of requirements management, including documenting, analyzing, tracing, prioritizing, and communicating requirements and changes, is crucial. You must also have a solid grasp of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) practices, from requirements gathering to maintenance.

Your experience should include systems integration, validating communication and interoperability across diverse applications and services. Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills are necessary for systematically diagnosing and resolving technical issues. Familiarity with web services and standardized protocols is expected. The ability to analyze workflows, identify bottlenecks, and adapt processes to achieve outcomes is key.

Working knowledge of version control tools like Git, and experience with API testing tools such as Insomnia, test case management tools like XRay, and project management tools like Jira are required. Exposure to cloud platforms, preferably Azure, is a plus. Familiarity with AI-assisted engineering practices is also advantageous.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills are vital for effective collaboration and presenting quality insights. You should be self-driven, proactive, adaptable, and committed to continuous improvement.
