Job description

Mastercard is a global financial technology company dedicated to powering economies and empowering individuals across over 200 countries and territories. Our mission is to build a sustainable economy where everyone can thrive, offering secure, simple, and smart digital payment solutions. We combine innovative technology, strategic partnerships, and extensive networks to deliver products and services that help people, businesses, and governments achieve their full potential.

We are seeking a Senior Software Integration Engineer to join our SME team. This role is crucial for independently tackling complex integration challenges while upholding our quality, engineering, and delivery objectives. The ideal candidate will be adept in agile practices, integration testing, quality assurance, requirements management, SDLC, systems integration, troubleshooting, web services, workflow management, and test automation. You will play a key role in designing, executing, and maintaining tests to ensure seamless interactions across various systems, services, and APIs.

Responsibilities

In this pivotal role, you will spearhead Quality Engineering (QE) activities, encompassing test planning, strategy development, validation, automation, and release readiness across assigned projects. You will actively collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to refine testing processes and bolster quality practices.

Your responsibilities include designing, executing, and maintaining integration tests that validate interactions between diverse systems, services, APIs, data flows, interfaces, and dependencies. You will establish and uphold robust QA processes and standards aimed at defect prevention, quality enhancement, performance optimization, and customer satisfaction.

Apply agile work management principles to effectively plan, prioritize, and manage tasks within iterative delivery frameworks. Partner closely with product owners, developers, and delivery teams to meticulously review requirements, clarify acceptance criteria, manage changes, identify risks, and ensure testability throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

Support all phases of the SDLC, from requirements gathering to maintenance, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, maintainable solutions. Contribute to systems integration efforts by validating communication, interoperability, and reliability across a spectrum of technologies, processes, applications, and services.

Implement and support comprehensive automation for UI, API, backend, and integration layers using cutting-edge tools such as Playwright and Cypress. You will also support API performance testing and validation leveraging tools like Gatling and BlazeMeter.

Troubleshoot intricate issues across systems, applications, services, integrations, test environments, and networks with a structured, methodical approach. Evaluate source code authored by developers to identify and rectify potential issues, enhance maintainability, improve overall quality, and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.

Analyze workflows, pinpoint bottlenecks, streamline procedures, monitor progress, and adapt processes to ensure efficient workflow progression. Contribute to Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) and DevOps practices by supporting automated test execution, version control, and seamless integration of test automation into delivery pipelines.

Provide invaluable technical guidance to team members, support proof-of-concept initiatives, and informally coach others to foster the adoption of scalable and maintainable test automation practices. Communicate project status, identified risks, dependencies, and key quality insights clearly and effectively to stakeholders and leadership. Champion agile methodologies, continuous learning, collaboration, accountability, and ongoing improvement within the team.

Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate with extensive experience in quality engineering, test strategy, planning, automation, QA, and software validation within complex technology programs. You should possess the ability to apply your skills independently and consistently in challenging and nuanced situations, while actively supporting broader business, delivery, and quality objectives.

A strong grasp of agile principles and practices is essential, including proficiency in planning, prioritization, iterative delivery, collaboration, adaptability, and continuous improvement. You should have proven experience collaborating with development and engineering teams to review source code, identify potential issues, enhance maintainability, and promote adherence to coding standards and best practices.

Demonstrate hands-on expertise with UI and API automation tools like Playwright and Cypress, coupled with strong experience in API integration testing and backend validation. Experience in designing and maintaining integration tests for data flows, interfaces, dependencies, web services, and system interactions is required.

Familiarity with API performance testing and exposure to performance testing tools such as Gatling and BlazeMeter is beneficial. A solid understanding of requirements management—including documenting, analyzing, tracing, prioritizing, agreeing on, and communicating requirements and changes to stakeholders—is crucial.

Possess a strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) practices, covering requirements gathering, design, coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance. Experience with systems integration, validating communication and interoperability across applications, services, technologies, and processes is necessary.

Exhibit exceptional troubleshooting and analytical skills, enabling systematic identification, diagnosis, and resolution of technical issues across systems, applications, services, test environments, and networks. Working knowledge of version control tools like Git is expected.

Familiarity with web services and standardized protocols that facilitate communication, data exchange, interoperability, scalability, and integration is important. Experience analyzing workflows, identifying bottlenecks, streamlining procedures, monitoring progress, and adapting processes to achieve desired outcomes is highly valued.

While not mandatory, exposure to cloud platforms, preferably Azure, is a plus. Familiarity with AI-assisted engineering and quality practices, including GitHub Copilot, Playwright MCP servers, and automation accelerators, will be advantageous. The ability to work on proof-of-concepts is also desirable.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential for effective collaboration across teams and clear presentation of quality insights. We seek a self-driven, proactive, adaptable individual committed to continuous improvement.
