Join the Windows Experiences team as a Senior Software Engineer and play a key role in shaping the future of Widgets on Windows. The Widgets domain encompasses Windows shell features, application and platform components, web technologies, and cloud services. You will lead the end-to-end design and implementation of capabilities across these diverse areas, collaborating closely with product management, design, data science, and partner teams to transform customer needs into scalable solutions.

Drive innovation by creating new Widgets experiences that deliver personalized, relevant, and timely information across Windows. Lead the architecture, design, implementation, and delivery of comprehensive capabilities spanning Windows shell components, application packages, web interfaces, platform APIs, and cloud services. Partner with product management, design, data science, and partner engineering teams to identify customer opportunities, develop prototypes, evaluate technical trade-offs, and translate promising concepts into scalable product features.
Establish robust experimentation and measurement strategies, leveraging customer feedback and product data to assess outcomes and continuously enhance the usefulness, engagement, and quality of Widgets. Elevate the availability, reliability, performance, accessibility, security, privacy, and observability of Widgets by defining clear engineering standards and implementing sustainable solutions. Mentor fellow engineers, nurture an inclusive learning environment, and refine team practices for design, development, testing, incident response, and operational ownership.
We require a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, coupled with at least 4 years of technical engineering experience involving coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or equivalent experience.
Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience, along with 10+ years of professional software development experience. Essential skills include proficiency in modern C++ and native Windows development, a solid understanding of software architecture, algorithms, data structures, concurrency, and debugging. Experience leading complex, cross-team projects and diagnosing production issues using telemetry, traces, dumps, and diagnostics is highly valued. Candidates should be proactive, self-motivated, and adept at addressing challenging technical problems with effective communication and collaboration skills. Familiarity with Win32, WinRT, COM, Windows App SDK, or MSIX, experience building Windows shell or system UI, and developing cloud-connected Windows applications are beneficial. Experience with AI-powered features, personalization, recommendations, or intelligent content discovery is a plus.
