Our Transfer Solutions division focuses on expanding Mastercard's reach in Disbursements & Remittances and Bill Payments. We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Product & Engineering teams, contributing to the design, development, and maintenance of innovative payment solutions.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will own the end-to-end software delivery lifecycle for application components, including code development, testing, and deployment. You will be responsible for refactoring existing code to ensure exceptional quality and adopting new languages and architectural patterns as needed.
This role involves active participation and contribution to the team's agile processes and decision-making. You will pull tasks from the backlog, deliver work with guidance, and collaborate effectively with the scrum team. A key aspect is understanding the broader system architecture and providing constructive feedback for improvements.
You will also contribute to the team's knowledge sharing through guild and engineering community initiatives, assist less experienced team members, and help in technical documentation. Influencing team decisions and adhering to Mastercard's technology policies are integral parts of this role.
We are looking for candidates proficient in writing secure code in at least three programming languages, such as Java, JavaScript, and SQL. Familiarity with secure coding standards (OWASP, CWE, SEI CERT) is essential.
Experience with Infrastructure as Code and cloud-first software development is preferred. You should understand and implement standard branching practices like Gitflow and peer review processes. Proficiency in using tools for code quality scanning (Sonar, Zally, Checkmarx) and building comprehensive unit, service, and integration tests is required.
Knowledge of basic design patterns, requirement analysis, and modern SDLC practices including Scrum, Kanban, Continuous Delivery, DevOps, and Quality Engineering is necessary. An understanding of fundamental engineering principles for mission-critical software, including security, customer experience, operability, and service-oriented architecture, is expected. Familiarity with application patterns for APIs, event-driven services, batch processing, web applications, and big data, along with CI/CD concepts, automation, pipelines, virtualization, and containerization, will be advantageous.
