Join Rippling's mission-critical Tax Payment team as a Senior Software Engineer. You will play a pivotal role in designing and evolving a core product that manages over $30 billion in tax remittances across more than 40 countries and 5,000 tax agencies. This is an opportunity to build highly reliable and scalable distributed systems at the intersection of financial systems, international compliance, and automation.

Our team ensures that billions of tax payments are remitted accurately and on time. We own the entire lifecycle of tax remittance, from salary payouts to agency payments and refunds. You will contribute to an intelligent engine that optimizes tax remittance, maximizes float income, and maintains strict compliance and audit requirements.

Architect and develop the core tax remittance product, ensuring paramount reliability and correctness for global operations.

Build and optimize distributed systems to handle high-volume, multi-currency tax payments, agency cut-offs, retries, and reconciliation at scale.

Establish industry-leading standards for reliability, observability, security, and regulatory compliance in a critical domain where every deployment impacts users.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Payroll, Banking, Finance Ops, Compliance, and external partners, to define roadmaps, mitigate launch risks, and expand our global product offerings.

Participate in planning, conduct code reviews, and mentor junior engineers, fostering their technical growth and autonomy.

A minimum of 6 years of professional programming experience is required.

Demonstrate strong discretion and independent judgment in performing duties.

Possess solid experience in architecting robust backend applications with complex business logic.

Preferred proficiency in our technology stack, including Python, Django, React, MongoDB, and AWS.
