The Search Serving Infrastructure (SSI) team is at the forefront of developing performant, reliable, and sustainable execution frameworks for Search products. In collaboration with DeepMind, SSI is rapidly innovating, particularly for AI-first experiences like AI Overviews (AIO) and AI Mode (AIM). While optimizing traditional Search Results Pages (SRPs), the primary focus for 2026 is enhancing AI experiences through full-stack optimizations, from low-level thread scheduling to UI rendering performance. Your work will impact how billions of people worldwide search for information, requiring solutions to intricate engineering challenges and infrastructure expansion, ensuring accessibility and utility.

Develop and rigorously test product and system code. Participate in or lead design reviews with colleagues and stakeholders to select appropriate technologies. Provide constructive feedback on code developed by peers, ensuring adherence to best practices for style, integration, accuracy, testability, and efficiency. Contribute to and update documentation and educational content based on product advancements and user insights. Investigate, debug, and resolve product or system issues by analyzing root causes and their impact on hardware, network, or service operations.

A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience is required. Possess at least 5 years of hands-on software development experience in one or more programming languages. Demonstrate 3 years of experience in testing, maintaining, or launching software products, coupled with 1 year of experience in software design and architecture.

Preferred qualifications include a Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.

Further enhance your profile with 5 years of experience in data structures and algorithms, and 6 years of programming expertise in C++.

Candidates with 4 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure, software design, and architecture are highly encouraged to apply.
