This team builds the core infrastructure for over 200 Microsoft online businesses, including Azure, Xbox Live, and Office 365. We are focused on smart growth, efficiency, and delivering trusted experiences. The Data Processing Unit (DPU) team specializes in creating high-performance, programmable ASICs for efficient data stream handling, offering superior performance over CPU-based solutions.

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to enhance our DPU Runtime (OS) PCIe team. You will develop cutting-edge, high-performance, scalable, and programmable DPU software, with a primary focus on next-generation PCIe device firmware. As a crucial member of our DPU driver software team, your expertise in PCIe and embedded development will directly contribute to DPU driver code, related host software, and support. Your work will significantly impact Azure by shaping the development of the latest PCIe adapter cards.

Responsibilities

Architect and design PCIe firmware for DPUs, emphasizing device security. Develop, maintain, and debug PCIe issues, utilizing protocol analyzers as needed. Actively participate in code reviews, offering constructive feedback to peers. Mentor and guide team members, fostering a collaborative development environment.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field is required, along with a minimum of 4 years of technical engineering experience. Proficiency in coding languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python is necessary.

Preferred qualifications include 8+ years of technical engineering experience with a strong focus on C or C++, 5+ years of experience in Embedded and/or Operating System Kernel development, and 5+ years of experience designing and architecting complex software systems. Additionally, 3+ years of experience in technical leadership or mentoring is highly valued. Familiarity with PCIe protocol analyzers, storage protocols like NVMe, and PCIe switches and fabrics is also advantageous.
