Job description

Join Google Cloud's innovative team and help shape the future of large-scale infrastructure. We are seeking highly skilled software engineers to develop cutting-edge technologies that power billions of users globally. This role offers the opportunity to work on critical projects within Google Cloud, with the flexibility to explore diverse challenges across the full technology stack. You will be instrumental in anticipating customer needs and driving innovation, embodying a spirit of ownership and leadership. We encourage versatile engineers with a passion for tackling complex problems and advancing technology.

Google Cloud empowers organizations worldwide to achieve digital transformation. We provide enterprise-grade solutions built on Google's advanced technology, enabling sustainable development for creators. Our trusted partnership supports growth and resolves critical business challenges for customers across over 200 countries and territories.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for managing end-to-end workflows, including bare-metal server provisioning, hardware/firmware rollouts, and secure hardware decommissioning. Develop robust hardware and infrastructure observability pipelines, alongside designing high-impact alerting and SLO dashboards for rapid incident detection.

Design and implement seamless integrations, creating abstraction layers between Google Cloud VMware Engine (GCVE) bare-metal infrastructure and Google's hardware lifecycle management platforms. Develop high-reliability recovery orchestration, such as one-click power-ups and automated thermal protection.

Apply AI/ML models and advanced analytics to hardware telemetry and logs for proactive failure prediction and automated Root Cause Analysis (RCA).

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience, is required. You need 5 years of software development experience in languages like Go, Python, C/C++, Java, or Rust, coupled with a strong understanding of data structures and algorithms.

Additionally, 3 years of experience in designing distributed infrastructure software, bare-metal server automation, hardware management integrations (e.g., Redfish, IPMI), or large-scale fleet monitoring is essential. Familiarity with Linux systems programming, networking, and container orchestration is also expected.
