As a Senior Software Engineer, you will assume end-to-end ownership of various workstreams. You will operate with significant autonomy, translating broad organizational objectives into detailed technical roadmaps.
You will be responsible for researching and identifying key problems for the team to address. Collaborating with a peer tech lead, you will define multi-quarter technical initiatives, establish architectural direction, and amplify the team's collective output.
Your role will involve scoping complex problems within the Anti-Financial Crime (AFC) sanctions screening domain and defining the technical strategy to address them. You will also set technical direction, create comprehensive design documents, and lead design reviews for intricate, multi-quarter features.
Furthermore, you will actively contribute to enhancing system stability and production health, identifying scaling opportunities, and influencing leadership. Close collaboration with Product Managers, Technical Program Managers, Payments Compliance Operations, Export Legal, and Platform teams will be essential for resolving architectural dependencies and aligning project timelines.
You will also mentor and delegate tasks to junior and mid-level engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing engineering environment.
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience, coupled with a minimum of 5 years in software development using one or more programming languages. A strong background in testing, maintaining, or launching software products (3 years) and experience in software design and architecture (1 year) are essential.
Preferred qualifications include a Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field. Significant experience with data structures and algorithms (5 years) is highly valued. Demonstrated experience in software design and architecture, ensuring smooth production rollouts and diligent execution of complex systems, is also preferred.
Familiarity with the payments and compliance domains is advantageous. Exposure to Google’s big-data infrastructure (like Flume, Storage) and experimentation infrastructure (like Rasta, Mendel) is a plus. In-person interviews are typically part of the hiring process for this role.
