Join the Windows + Devices Fundamentals team, dedicated to enhancing the reliability, performance, and overall health of Windows devices. We architect and manage the systems that convert raw signals into actionable metrics and insights.
This role offers the opportunity to lead the design and implementation of data-driven systems. You will define metric strategies, build robust backend services and data pipelines, analyze complex product health issues, and influence engineering priorities to improve Windows Fundamentals across diverse devices and customer segments.

Lead the development of Windows Fundamentals metrics, success criteria, and measurement frameworks for reliability, performance, and battery life.
Architect and operate scalable backend services and data pipelines for telemetry ingestion, transformation, and health monitoring.
Establish high standards for service reliability, security, data quality, and operational support.
Analyze large-scale telemetry to identify trends, anomalies, and their impact on customers.
Investigate metric movements using statistical methods and translate findings into engineering actions.
Design automation, AI-assisted analysis, and diagnostic workflows to proactively detect and resolve issues.
Provide technical leadership across various engineering teams and mentor junior engineers.
A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field is required, along with 8+ years of engineering experience, including proficiency in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python. Alternatively, equivalent practical experience will be considered.
Three or more years of experience in backend service development, data engineering, distributed systems, large-scale analytics, or systems analysis is necessary.
Proven ability to architect, develop, deploy, and operate reliable production services and data pipelines is essential. Strong software design, programming, debugging, statistical reasoning, and problem-solving skills are expected.
Experience with operating systems, Windows internals, distributed services, performance engineering, or large-scale fleet analytics is beneficial.
Familiarity with defining organizational KPIs, establishing baselines, investigating regressions, and communicating insights to leadership is required.
Experience designing scalable telemetry schemas, service APIs, orchestration systems, and anomaly-detection systems is a plus.
Knowledge of Kusto, Azure services, statistical analysis, machine learning, or AI applied to engineering analysis is highly desirable.
