At the heart of our operations is COSMIC, Microsoft's managed container platform. We develop and manage this platform to enable thousands of Microsoft 365 services to deploy and operate efficiently, with built-in excellence. Drive technical strategy, architecture, and execution for our hyperscale cloud platform and deployment systems. Lead the design and delivery of significant infrastructure and platform initiatives. Develop secure, scalable, reliable, and maintainable distributed systems. Influence engineering direction through strong architectural leadership and informed technical decisions. Champion operational excellence via automation, robust observability, and effective reliability engineering. Ensure all solutions adhere to the highest standards of security, privacy, compliance, accessibility, and service reliability. Mentor junior engineers and cultivate a culture of engineering excellence within and across teams. Collaborate with stakeholders across Microsoft to achieve global business impact.

A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, coupled with at least 4 years of technical engineering experience and proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, is required. Equivalent practical experience will also be considered.

This role necessitates meeting specific security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check, which must be passed upon hire and renewed every two years.

Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, alongside 7+ years of software engineering experience. Demonstrated expertise in systems thinking and architectural design, experience leading large-scale, geo-distributed engineering initiatives from concept to delivery, and a track record of building and operating highly available distributed systems at scale are highly valued. Strong problem-solving, design, coding, and debugging skills, along with experience in cloud infrastructure, platform services, or developer platforms, are also beneficial. Experience leveraging AI technologies for platform and infrastructure challenges, a proven ability to mentor engineers and influence technical direction, and experience collaborating with global stakeholders to deliver complex engineering outcomes will set candidates apart.
