Our critical Storage Management UI (SMUI) serves as a vital nexus, connecting Google One, Google Photos, and the global Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) ecosystem. We are committed to building scalable, high-performance full-stack solutions that enhance user experience and data management.

As an Engineer, you will be instrumental in shaping technical strategy across the entire user storage lifecycle. You'll create globally scaled features that assist millions of users in monitoring, optimizing, and securing their digital memories and legacies across diverse devices. The Platforms and Devices team explores Google's various computing software platforms and first-party devices, integrating Google AI, software, and hardware to deliver faster, more seamless user interactions worldwide.

Lead technical design, architecture, and end-to-end deployment of globally scalable storage features for both Android clients and backend services. Collaborate across teams to launch impactful products at the intersection of Google One, Google Photos, and the OEM ecosystem.

Accelerate development by embracing and utilizing agentic AI coding capabilities and modern automated workflows to boost engineering velocity, code quality, and system reliability. Identify, debug, and resolve complex full-stack issues to continuously enhance product experience, system health, and overall efficiency.

Uphold and champion high standards for Android development and backend integration. Mentor junior engineers and actively contribute to Google’s evolving technical standards.

A Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience is required. Possess at least 5 years of software development experience, including proficiency in programming languages, data structures, and algorithms. Demonstrate 3 years of experience in testing, maintaining, or launching software products, alongside 1 year dedicated to software design and architecture.

Significant experience is needed in Android full-stack development, with a strong preference for 5 years in Android application development using Kotlin/Java. Proficiency in building scalable backend services/APIs is essential. Experience with API design, mobile-backend agreements, client-server architecture, and optimizing Android performance/latency in large-scale applications is highly valued.

Demonstrated experience or strong interest in agentic AI coding frameworks, LLM-assisted coding, and modern automated workflows to speed up software development is a plus. Familiarity with subscription-based platforms, cloud storage/management tools, or integrating services within the OEM/partner ecosystem is also beneficial.
