As an Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping technical strategy for the entire user storage lifecycle. You will build globally scaled features designed to assist millions of users in monitoring, optimizing, and securing their digital memories across multiple devices. The Platforms and Devices team is at the forefront of innovation, encompassing Google's diverse computing software platforms and first-party devices. We integrate Google AI, software, and hardware to create faster, more seamless user interactions and build groundbreaking experiences worldwide.

Take ownership as a technical lead, guiding the design, architecture, and full deployment of globally scalable storage features for both Android clients and backend services. Collaborate across teams and with other Google departments to successfully launch impactful products at the nexus of Google One, Google Photos, and the OEM ecosystem. Actively embrace and champion agentic AI coding capabilities, leveraging agentic workflows to enhance engineering velocity, code quality, and system reliability. Proactively identify, debug, and resolve complex full-stack issues to continuously elevate our product experience, system health, and operational efficiency. Uphold and promote high standards in Android development and backend integration, mentor junior engineers, and contribute significantly to Google's evolving technical landscape.

A Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience is required. Possess at least 5 years of software development experience, including expertise in programming languages, data structures, and algorithms. Demonstrate 3 years of experience in testing, maintaining, or launching software products, alongside 1 year of experience in software design and architecture. Acquire 3 years of hands-on experience with Android full-stack development. Preferred qualifications include 5 years of Android application development experience using Kotlin/Java, with a strong ability to build scalable backend services/APIs. Experience with API design, mobile-backend agreements, client-server architecture, and optimizing Android performance is highly valued. Enthusiasm for agentic AI coding frameworks, LLM-assisted coding, and modern automated workflows is a plus. Familiarity with subscription-based platforms, cloud storage tools, or OEM/partner ecosystem integrations is beneficial.
