Contribute to the design and development of foundational AI platform systems essential for Rippling's AI strategy, spanning HR, IT, Finance, and more.

Engage as a hands-on Senior Software Engineer, dedicating approximately 60% of your time to coding, debugging, code reviews, and implementation ownership.

Develop core AI platform features, including background agents, automated workflows, evaluation systems, data pipelines, and model quality feedback loops.

Build systems that empower AI agents to automate routine enterprise tasks with robust permissions, controls, approvals, and auditability.

Create self-healing and self-improving workflows where AI can proactively identify issues and suggest resolutions.

Collaborate closely with Staff Engineers, Product, and other Engineering stakeholders to translate complex problems into scalable technical solutions.

Take ownership of well-defined to moderately ambiguous components, managing them from initial design through implementation, testing, launch, monitoring, and ongoing iteration.

Actively participate in design discussions, code reviews, debugging sessions, production support, and continuous operational improvements.

Engineer reliable, scalable, and maintainable backend and platform systems that underpin Rippling's extensive product ecosystem.

We seek engineers with 5–8 years of comprehensive software engineering experience, ideally within backend, platform, infrastructure, distributed systems, or product engineering.

A strong emphasis on hands-on coding is essential; approximately 60% of your role will involve writing, reviewing, and debugging production-quality code.

Proficiency in at least one backend or general-purpose programming language is required, with preferred languages including Python, Java, Go/Golang, C++, Scala, Kotlin, or C#. The focus is on coding fundamentals and system design depth rather than language exclusivity.

Proven experience in building and operating scalable backend and platform systems in production environments is crucial.

A solid grasp of system design principles, API design, database management, data modeling, concurrency, observability, and production troubleshooting is expected.

Ability to independently manage technical challenges, from well-defined to moderately ambiguous, from design through execution and iteration.

Comfort and effectiveness in a fast-paced product engineering setting with evolving priorities and a high degree of ownership.
