This role focuses on designing, building, securing, and evolving enterprise-grade APIs that are crucial for Mastercard's ecosystem. You'll be instrumental in defining API standards, creating reusable platform capabilities, and delivering robust, scalable, and high-performing APIs on AWS.

You will be responsible for defining comprehensive API architecture and integration strategies for enterprise applications and platform services. This includes designing secure, scalable, and reusable APIs using API-first principles, and establishing governance standards for resource modeling, error handling, versioning, and lifecycle management.

Key duties involve building resilient, observable, and performant cloud-native backend services, applying microservices patterns, and developing reusable frameworks, shared services, and SDKs. You will collaborate closely with Product, Architecture, Security, and Engineering teams to translate business requirements into compliant technical solutions. Contributing to design and code reviews, issue resolution, and influencing the organization's API strategy are also core aspects of this role.

We are seeking candidates with a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, coupled with proven experience in API development, integration, and distributed systems. A strong understanding of API architecture, design patterns, and best practices is essential.

Essential technical proficiencies include expertise in Java and Spring Boot, Python for API development, and hands-on experience with AWS services like Lambda, ECS, and API Gateway. You should also possess deep knowledge of API security protocols (OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect) and distributed systems concepts. Familiarity with DevOps practices and containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes is required.
