The Open Banking Platform Engineering team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to advance our developer experience strategy. This role requires a passion for DevOps, strong motivation, intellectual curiosity, and a keen analytical and engineering mindset. Engage in team prioritization discussions alongside Product and Business stakeholders. Own and estimate delivery tasks, encompassing design, development, testing, deployment, configuration, and documentation, to meet business requirements. Automate the build, operation, and execution aspects of software throughout its lifecycle. Lead critical trade-off discussions within the team regarding code, design, and processes. Report on status and proactively manage risks for primary applications and services. Drive the integration of services with a focus on customer journey and overall experience. Conduct demos and participate in acceptance discussions with Product Owners. Deepen understanding of operational and engineering experiences, actively working to enhance metrics and user experience within your ownership area. Develop a comprehensive grasp of end-to-end technical architecture and dependent systems. Champion the adoption of technology standards and opinionated frameworks, while diligently reviewing the coding, testing, and automation work of team members.
Demonstrate advanced proficiency in software architecture and development. Possess intermediate skills in automation, DevOps practices, and cloud platforms, with a preference for AWS. Exhibit intermediate expertise in container-based software deployment and beginner to intermediate experience with Kubernetes or managed Kubernetes services. Acquire experience working within cross-functional teams on large, globally distributed projects. Be capable of writing secure code in at least three programming languages (e.g., C, Golang, Python, Terraform, JavaScript) and understand secure coding standards and common vulnerabilities (e.g., OWASP, CWE, SEI CERT). Show intermediate skills in global-focused design and innovation, alongside thought leadership. Understand operating system internals (Windows, Linux) to develop interoperable and high-performance code. Implement standard branching strategies (e.g., Gitflow) and conduct thorough peer reviews.
