We are seeking a motivated Senior Software Engineer to join our Open Banking Platform Engineering team. This role is crucial for advancing our developer experience strategy through continuous innovation and effective problem-solving. The ideal candidate will possess a strong passion for DevOps, intellectual curiosity, and a robust engineering mindset.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will actively participate in team discussions with Product and Business stakeholders to prioritize initiatives. You will be responsible for estimating and delivering tasks, encompassing design, development, testing, deployment, configuration, and documentation, ensuring alignment with business requirements.

Your role will involve automating build, operate, and run aspects of software, and driving critical code, design, and process trade-off discussions within the team. You will report on status, manage risks for your primary application/service, and lead the integration of services with a focus on customer journey and experience. Performing demos and engaging in acceptance discussions with Product Owners will also be key.

You will gain a comprehensive understanding of the end-to-end technical architecture and its dependencies. Furthermore, you will champion the adoption of technology standards and opinionated frameworks, while also reviewing the coding, testing, and automation work of your team members. A key aspect will be improving operational and engineering experience and metrics within your ownership area.

To excel in this role, you should possess advanced skills in software architecture and development, alongside intermediate proficiency in automation, DevOps, and cloud platforms, with a preference for AWS. Experience with container-based software deployment practices and a beginner to intermediate understanding of Kubernetes or managed Kubernetes services are essential.

We are looking for candidates with experience in cross-functional, large-scale projects involving globally dispersed development resources. The ability to write secure code in at least three programming languages (e.g., C, Golang, Python, Terraform, JavaScript) and familiarity with secure coding standards (OWASP, CWE, SEI CERT) and vulnerabilities are required.

Intermediate skills in global-focused design, innovation, and thought leadership are highly valued. A solid understanding of operating system internals (Windows, Linux) is necessary for writing interoperable and performant code. Experience with standard branching strategies like Gitflow and peer review practices is also expected.
