This role focuses on contributing to a robust software quality engineering practice. You will be instrumental in requirements discussions, test planning, scenario creation, and execution of comprehensive testing strategies.
The Senior Software Engineer position involves collaborating with project teams to ensure timely delivery of high-quality software. You will proactively identify and address emerging issues, proposing effective solutions and independently managing assigned tasks.
Engage in requirements discussions, test planning, scenario development, and test case creation to ensure adherence to Mastercard's quality standards and best practices.
Collaborate with project teams to meet deadlines, identify potential issues, and propose solutions while independently executing assigned tasks.
Design and develop automated test scenarios for system-to-system interfaces, APIs, UIs, performance, compatibility, and security testing using technologies like Java, Selenium, Cypress, and Cucumber.
Translate complex system requirements into detailed test requirements and testing methodologies.
Identify and implement sophisticated automation efforts, including code refactoring to enhance efficiency.
Develop test scripts and conduct both automated and manual exploratory testing to verify software against business and security requirements.
Generate test data, prepare test environments, execute test plans, and report findings comprehensively.
Take ownership of defect management, including oversight and escalation of issues discovered during testing.
Document all processes and outcomes in accordance with software development best practices and Mastercard's Quality Assurance standards.
Document performance test strategies and plans, and execute performance validation tests.
Collect quality metrics, communicating test status and risks to stakeholders effectively.
Serve as a first-level reviewer for project-level reviews and walkthroughs.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
Perform demonstrations of new product functionalities to stakeholders.
Develop deep business and product knowledge over time.
Identify opportunities to enhance operational effectiveness and reduce time-to-market.
A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or equivalent professional experience is required.
We are seeking individuals with 6 to 9 years of proven experience in software quality engineering and automation.
Essential technical proficiencies include Java, Selenium, Cucumber/Jbehave, Soap UI, JMeter, Spring framework, REST, JSON, Eclipse, and GIT.
Strong SQL skills are necessary for working with large, complex data sources and writing intricate queries.
Demonstrated experience in testing APIs (REST and SOAP), web user interfaces, and reports is crucial.
Experience implementing CI/CD build pipelines using tools like Git/Bitbucket, Jenkins, and Maven is essential.
Successfully validated application codebases through automation for new features and regression testing.
Experience working within Agile teams and familiarity with Agile/SAFe principles and ceremonies are expected. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt quickly to new technologies and systems are vital.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required to effectively interact with diverse technical teams and stakeholders.
