Join Mastercard's Developer Workbench team, a pivotal part of MSBX (Mastercard Software Builder Experience). This is a unique opportunity to help transform our developer platform from a cost-management tool into a unified, developer-centric ecosystem. We're seeking passionate engineers to shape how over 11,500 software engineers at Mastercard build, test, and deploy software.

Our vision is to create an integrated, end-to-end developer experience by bringing together core MSBX products like BuildersHub, DevFlow, and TestFlow, alongside cutting-edge tools such as GitHub Copilot and Claude Code. This role offers the chance to influence the future of developer productivity at a leading global technology company.

You will be instrumental in designing, building, and maintaining the core components of the Developer Workbench platform throughout the entire development lifecycle. Your contributions will guide the technical direction and roadmap, evolving the platform into a cohesive, productized developer experience.

Key responsibilities include driving the integration and usability of software engineering tools, managing the "birthright and optional tooling" catalogue, and collaborating with product owners and stakeholders to align capabilities with organizational engineering priorities. You'll also focus on enhancing developer enablement features like onboarding flows and self-service tools, aiming to maximize the value for our extensive engineering workforce.

Further, you will design and implement pre-provisioned onboarding environments for rapid new hire productivity and advance AI-augmented development capabilities, including agentic coding tools and automated quality pipelines. Instrumenting the platform with meaningful metrics to track developer productivity, satisfaction, and health will also be crucial. Collaboration with security, compliance, and engineering teams to meet Mastercard's stringent requirements, alongside active participation in the Software Engineering Guild, will round out this impactful role.

We are looking for seasoned software engineers with a strong background in platform engineering, developer tooling, or developer experience (DevEx) products. Hands-on experience building and operating enterprise-scale developer platforms or internal tooling is essential.

A deep understanding of the modern developer tooling ecosystem is required, encompassing AI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code), containerization technologies (e.g., Docker Desktop, Kubernetes, DevContainers), CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, ArgoCD), and developer portals (e.g., Backstage).

Experience with AI-powered developer tools in regulated enterprise environments, including an awareness of policy compliance and responsible AI usage, is highly valued. A solid grasp of developer experience (DevEx) principles and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) with knowledge of infrastructure automation and cloud-native patterns is also expected. Strong communication skills, self-drive, and familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and SDLC best practices are critical for success in this dynamic role.
