Seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer to architect highly available, large-scale enterprise software platforms. You will shape the technical vision for core product areas within Amazon's Finance Automation Payroll Technology team, transforming global payroll processing at scale.

This role involves designing and building systems that ensure accurate, timely, and compliant payroll for Amazon employees worldwide. You'll tackle complex business challenges through technology, driving innovation in payroll operations.

- Design and architect scalable, reliable solutions for complex payroll and financial systems, integrating across services, countries, and regulatory frameworks. - Own the end-to-end technical vision for core product areas, from initial problem definition through delivery and long-term operational health. - Drive alignment among engineering, product, and finance stakeholders by translating business needs into clear technical strategies and actionable plans. - Establish and elevate quality standards via automated testing, operational readiness, key metrics, and a strong review culture. - Mentor and develop engineers at all levels through code reviews, design discussions, and knowledge sharing.

- Minimum of 7 years of professional software development experience (non-internship). - 5+ years of programming experience in at least one software language. - 4+ years of leading the design or architecture of new and existing systems, including patterns, reliability, and scaling. - Proficient in professional software engineering best practices across the full development lifecycle, including coding standards, architecture, code reviews, source control, continuous deployment, testing, and operational excellence. - Proven experience as a mentor, tech lead, or engineering team leader. - A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field is required.
