Expertise in languages such as Java or other backend programming languages, coupled with over 8 years of experience, is expected. You will produce high-quality, maintainable, and robust code by understanding the broader context and implementing simple, effective solutions. A comprehensive grasp of data structures, algorithms, and design patterns, along with deep knowledge of operating system performance and scalability, is vital for creating efficient and collaborative software. Senior SDEs are deeply aligned with Amazon's customer-centric philosophy, ensuring technical innovations are driven by business objectives.

A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field is required. Possess a minimum of 5 years of non-internship professional software development experience. Have at least 5 years of programming experience in a software programming language. Demonstrated experience serving as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team. Accumulate over 5 years of experience in leading the design or architecture (including design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems. Proficiency in languages such as Java or other backend programming languages is essential. Experience with the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations is preferred.
