Join Microsoft Silicon, Cloud Hardware, and Infrastructure Engineering (SCHIE) and power Microsoft's "Intelligent Cloud" mission. SCHIE is the engine behind Microsoft's expansive cloud infrastructure, supporting over 200 online businesses like Azure, Office 365, and Xbox Live. We are seeking experienced engineers passionate about customer-focused solutions and industry knowledge to envision and implement future technical solutions for cloud infrastructure optimization.
The Compute Silicon & Manufacturing Engineering (CSME) organization within SCHIE leads the design, development, and manufacturing of Microsoft's cutting-edge computer chips, including the Azure Cobalt. Our innovations provide significant strategic advantages to Microsoft and empower our customers to achieve more.
As Microsoft's cloud business continues its rapid expansion, delivering new offerings and hardware infrastructure on time, in high volume, with superior quality, and at the lowest cost is critical. The Verification & Validation team plays an instrumental role in defining and achieving operational success in hardware manufacturing, enhancing planning, quality, delivery, scale, and sustainability for Microsoft cloud hardware. We are looking for a Senior SOC Verification Engineer to contribute to this vital mission and culture, driving SoC verification strategy and execution for complex IP/SOC designs.
As a Senior SOC Verification Engineer, you will become an integral part of our pre-silicon SoC verification team, taking ownership of key verification aspects. You will collaborate closely with architecture, design, firmware, and emulation teams, developing a deep understanding of the overall SoC architecture.
Your role will involve establishing comprehensive verification strategies, detailed test plans, and defining requirements. You will develop robust verification environments, select appropriate tools, and implement advanced methodologies. Leveraging your expertise in SoC verification principles, you will create effective test plans and implement them by developing tests, test generators, test benches, checkers, and coverage models.
You will be responsible for running tests, correlating results with architecture, debugging failures to their root cause, and providing actionable recommendations for fixes. Embracing a growth mindset, you will continuously learn and adapt within a complex and dynamic environment. Engaging with partners, you will drive ongoing improvements in architecture, design, verification plans, collateral, and methodologies to proactively prevent, reduce, and more effectively identify bugs.
Furthermore, you will mentor and coach team members, fostering their growth and development. Applying a "One Microsoft" mentality, you will collaborate with and influence architects, logic designers, post-silicon validators, other verification engineers, and IP and tool providers. You will also embody our company culture and values in all your interactions.
A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field is required.
We are looking for candidates with a minimum of 10 years of pre-silicon SOC, subsystem, or IP verification experience. Additionally, you should possess at least 6 years of verification experience on SOC designs, including a minimum of 2 years focused on PCIe, CXL, or Data accelerator verification.
Preferred qualifications include 10+ years of experience as part of a SoC and/or IP development team, with a specialization in Data accelerators (DMA, compression, decompression, encryption, and decryption engines). Demonstrated expertise in areas such as SoC verification, ARM architecture, memory controller/PHY IPs, DDR protocols, coherent and non-coherent fabric IPs and protocols, PCIe Controller/PHY IPs and protocols, ACE lite or CHI bus protocols is highly valued.
A working knowledge of C/C++ is essential, along with experience in emulation, constraints, and their implications on SoC verification. Excellent communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills are critical for contributing effectively to diverse and inclusive teams.
