We are expanding our team and seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to support our continued growth. This role, reporting to the Manager of BizOps, will collaborate closely with architectural, development, and operational teams to ensure the reliable and secure delivery of Ethoca's services. The focus will be on enhancing Ethoca’s scalability, security, availability, and performance. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in operating Software as a Service (SaaS) platforms in production, preferably within the e-commerce sector. A broad technical expertise spanning database administration, deployment, systems administration, and cloud administration is essential. A keen instinct for security and reliability is a must.

Key responsibilities include collaborating with cross-functional teams to define database requirements and enhance existing or develop new systems. You will manage the installation and upgrading of database systems to ensure seamless operations. Implementing and maintaining robust database security measures according to industry standards is crucial.

Design and support 24x7 high-availability solutions for continuous database operations. Optimize database and server performance by analyzing and configuring hardware, operating systems, and software settings, providing upgrade recommendations. Develop and fine-tune database components like queries, stored procedures, and ETL processes, conducting code reviews for performance improvements.

Execute database schema and code changes, perform bottleneck analysis, and ensure efficient server/database performance, including necessary recovery and restore operations. Plan for system growth and scalability to meet future demands. Ensure compliance with vendor license agreements and manage various reporting and data export/import tasks across different formats.

Document the database environment, processes, and best practices for a comprehensive knowledge base. Provide prompt technical support and problem resolution for all database-related issues. Be available for production/on-call support to maintain continuous system availability and address emergencies. Embrace learning new technologies and contribute to architecture and design efforts. Operate effectively within a high-security environment, as Ethoca is PCI-DSS Level 1 certified. Communicate clearly and effectively across all organizational levels.

Essential qualifications include at least 5 years of experience in DB2 or PostgreSQL database administration and 2+ years in Snowflake data warehouse administration and development. Experience with cloud PaaS database services is required, along with proficiency in Jenkins, GitLab/GitHub, and Linux/Unix environments. Proven experience supporting highly available and fault-tolerant systems is necessary, including participation in on-call shifts for our 24/7 infrastructure.

Solid security knowledge and experience, encompassing areas like database encryption, masking, PKI, SSH, and VPN, is mandatory. You must be an expert problem solver, adept at applying analytical methodologies. A Computer Science or Engineering degree, or equivalent practical experience, is required.
