Join Microsoft's Cloud Hardware and Infrastructure Engineering team, a critical component powering Microsoft's 'Intelligent Cloud' mission. This division is instrumental in delivering the foundational technologies for over 200 online businesses, including Azure, Office 365, and Xbox Live. We are seeking experienced Senior Validation Engineers to contribute to cutting-edge AI designs, focusing on complex, high-performance, and efficient functions.
This role is part of the Post-Silicon Validation team within the Microsoft Artificial Intelligence System on Chip (AISoC) Silicon Organization. You will collaborate with a dedicated team to empower individuals and organizations globally, embodying Microsoft's values of respect, integrity, and accountability in an inclusive environment.
Develop comprehensive validation strategies, defining requirements, environments, tools, and methodologies. This includes creating debug boards and specifying hardware/software needs. Apply validation principles and techniques to write and implement test plans, developing test content, scripts, and verification collateral. Execute post-silicon content, triage failures, and conduct in-depth debugging. Drive continuous improvement by engaging with partners to enhance design, validation plans, collateral, and methodologies, aiming to prevent, reduce, or detect bugs earlier and more efficiently. Provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentorship to fellow engineers, while collaborating with architects, designers, and IP providers. Deliver high-quality results on schedule and provide technical leadership with integrity.
A Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering with a minimum of 7 years of validation experience, or a Master's/Ph.D. in Electrical or Computer Engineering with at least 5 years of validation experience is required.
Essential qualifications include an applied understanding of Computer Architecture and SoC validation principles. This encompasses a broad knowledge of SoC subsystem, system-level, and platform-level functionality. Proficiency in scripting and software development using industry-standard languages like Python or C/C++ is also necessary. Demonstrated leadership experience in driving Post-Silicon validation and characterization, with a track record of successful execution, is expected.
Preferred qualifications include experience in CPU, SoC, or IP development teams, along with strong leadership and communication skills. Expertise in high-speed IO (Ethernet, PCIe), understanding of board-level schematics, system-level software, and firmware are highly beneficial. Hands-on experience debugging silicon failures using on-chip debug features and test equipment is also advantageous.
