Join Microsoft Silicon, Cloud Hardware, and Infrastructure Engineering (SCHIE) to power Microsoft's intelligent cloud. As a Silicon Front-End (FE) CAD Software Engineer, you'll be instrumental in developing, maintaining, and supporting CAD flows, methodologies, and automation critical to our custom silicon portfolio, including Azure Cobalt and Azure Maia processors.

This role offers the opportunity to work at the forefront of silicon innovation, contributing to the speed, quality, and cost-efficiency of new silicon development. You will collaborate with a talented team within the Methodology, Infrastructure & Labs Engineering (MILE) organization, a key player in enabling Microsoft's silicon strategy.

Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining front-end CAD flows and methodologies, alongside designing and implementing CAD software, utilities, and automation using Python. You will build and maintain dashboards and metrics for flow visibility, develop regression and CI frameworks, and analyze results to identify and resolve regressions.

Further duties involve debugging complex issues across software, flows, and environments, automating repetitive CAD tasks, and using Git for version control. Collaboration with design, verification, and EDA teams is essential for requirement gathering and productivity improvements. You will also maintain high-quality documentation and continuously enhance flow reliability, scalability, and turnaround time, incorporating AI for task automation.

Ideal candidates possess a BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience, with a minimum of 6 years in software development, automation, or CAD flows, and proficiency in Python. Hands-on experience with end-to-end, Python-based system-level development and complex system testing is crucial.

Preferred qualifications include an MS or equivalent work experience, 4+ years developing FE CAD flows, experience with dashboards and reporting, and familiarity with front-end design/verification flows. Experience with FE CAD infrastructure, Azure cloud, and AI-based workflows is highly valued. A self-motivated, growth-oriented mindset with attention to detail is essential.
