We are seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to join our team and contribute to managing our Commercial and New Payment Flow databases.

As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will be instrumental in managing critical databases, focusing on backup and recovery, performance tuning, and high availability configurations. You will utilize your expertise across various database technologies, including Oracle, PostgreSQL, and NoSQL. Key responsibilities include leading infrastructure automation and scripting efforts, proactively managing client expectations through clear communication, and working with minimal supervision.

This role involves collaborating with other DBAs, contributing to internal projects, and taking the lead on certain initiatives. You will provide expert DBA suggestions and input on the strategic direction of our database domain, guiding development teams on best practices and optimal application database solutions. Proactive monitoring, timely troubleshooting of escalated database issues, and driving root cause analysis are essential aspects of this position.

The ideal candidate possesses strong experience as a DBA with both RDBMS and NoSQL database technologies. You should have a proven track record in configuring, patching, upgrading, and optimizing database software and related products. Expertise in security, backup/recovery, architecture, networking, and general database administration is required.

We are looking for individuals who can proactively monitor and resolve database issues, driving towards root cause and remediation. An understanding of database security principles, including users, roles, and privileges, is important. Familiarity with cloud concepts and database administration in cloud solutions is a significant plus. You will partner with technology teams and customers to translate business needs into effective technical solutions, employing strong performance and tuning skills to identify and resolve database performance issues.

Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong ability to follow change, problem, and incident management processes. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are crucial for promoting database engineering best practices and sound database structures. You should be adept at documentation, recommending and implementing process improvements, and planning/coordinating technical efforts. The ability to train and mentor junior team members, collaborate effectively in a global environment, and be available for on-call duties, including after hours and weekends, is also necessary. A Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems or equivalent experience is preferred.
