Seeking a seasoned Network Hardware Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role involves the rigorous qualification of networking devices, fabrics, and protocols, demanding a profound understanding of networking at the protocol level. Your expertise will be crucial in supporting test plan automation and ensuring the reliability, performance, and compliance of our global, cloud-based network infrastructure.
This position requires an engineer adept at evaluating and testing highly scaled network infrastructures, analyzing results, and implementing necessary corrective actions. The ideal candidate will possess strong programming skills to facilitate test automation and contribute to the continuous improvement of our networking systems.
Key responsibilities include designing and developing comprehensive test plans and cases aligned with networking protocols and production configurations. You will perform various testing types, including functional, scalability, performance, interoperability, regression, and security testing on network devices like routers.
Developing and maintaining automated test scripts and frameworks will be a core part of this role, enhancing testing efficiency. Configuring and managing test environments for scale validations is also essential. A significant aspect involves troubleshooting, analyzing test results, identifying root causes of failures, and documenting findings meticulously.
Collaboration with network vendors and designers to resolve issues is expected. Furthermore, you will mentor junior engineers, sharing your extensive knowledge and experience to foster team growth.
The ideal candidate will bring 6+ years of experience in the testing and automation of networking devices at a system level. Essential expertise includes proficiency with traffic generators such as IXIA or similar network test equipment.
Mandatory knowledge of BGP, MPLS, VxLAN, EVPN, OSPF, and QoS networking device hardware is required. Experience with RDMA, RoCE, and Infiniband is highly preferred. A strong command of Python or another object-oriented programming language is necessary.
Familiarity with optical transceivers (100G, 400G, 800G), EEPROM, DOM, and optical cables is also important. Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills are a must, alongside strong judgment to influence product roadmap direction and priorities. A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics/Hardware Engineering, or a related field is required. Certifications like CCNA or CCNP are advantageous.
