This Senior Network Engineer role is crucial for supporting and enhancing our multi-site network communication environment through expert design, implementation, and security.
The Senior Network Engineer will be instrumental in managing and executing diverse network projects, developing detailed requirements for network device upgrades across production, corporate, and non-production environments. This role involves troubleshooting complex network communication issues, providing advanced technical assistance for operational challenges, and owning project lifecycle responsibilities including planning, resource allocation, and implementing changes (even outside standard hours).
Key responsibilities include identifying project risks and proactively escalating concerns to prevent design oversights. Collaboration across teams is essential to gather necessary information and overcome obstacles. The role also encompasses engaging with change management processes, operations management, and vendor management. Continuous improvement of network performance, efficiency, and capacity is a priority. Engineers will conduct baseline checks on new hardware to ensure compliance with company standards and security posture, and will share knowledge and review the work of peers.
We are seeking a candidate with three to five years of comprehensive IT experience, specifically in networking, including LAN/WAN, firewalls, security, encryption technologies, and load balancing. A strong understanding of TCP/IP protocol communications and broad knowledge of Cisco's product portfolio are required. Familiarity with network diagnostics, BGP, SNMP, VPN, SSH, and MPLS technologies is essential.
Experience working within a heavily regulated environment, adhering to DSS/PCI compliance, is critical. Candidates should possess strong verbal and written communication skills, be self-starters with excellent listening abilities, and demonstrate leadership potential by mentoring junior employees and making sound judgments. The ability to work with limited supervision, identify and implement improvements in agreement with colleagues, and hold a current CCNP certification or equivalent experience are key qualifications.
