Join our team as a Senior Network Engineer and provide essential operational support for Google Cloud customers.
You will be instrumental in ensuring the reliability and performance of critical networking infrastructure that powers their businesses. This role offers a unique opportunity to deepen your expertise in Google Cloud services and their intricate network interactions, with a primary focus on timely issue resolution.
Leverage your background in enterprise network engineering to manage technical issue resolution effectively. This includes collaborating with third-party network vendors and driving improvements in break/fix and provisioning processes through automation, playbooks, and training. Develop a strong understanding of network operations, the ISP and carrier landscape, and debugging physical infrastructure.
Provide critical operational support for Google Cloud Platform (GCP) customers and internal teams.
Assist customers in resolving complex network service issues, focusing on connectivity and performance troubleshooting. Validate and rigorously test customer configurations within an interoperability lab environment. Develop workflow automation to significantly enhance the customer experience.
Lead initiatives to improve documentation, playbooks, and training materials for support organizations and Network Operations Centers (NOCs). Drive enhancements in processes and automate service turn-up and delivery workflows. Participate actively in an on-call rotation to address escalated issues.
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience is required.
Minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience in network engineering is essential.
Preferred qualifications include experience with scripting languages like Python, Data Structures, and Algorithms. Exposure to customer-facing roles within Internet Service Providers (ISPs), carriers, content networks, or Content Delivery Networks (CDNs) is highly beneficial.
Experience with cloud networking concepts such as Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), security groups, access lists, and stateful/stateless firewalls, along with a strong grasp of network operations, is valuable. Familiarity with Software-Defined Networking (SDN) principles, including the distinctions between control, data, and management planes, is also preferred. Excellent organizational, multitasking, and prioritization skills, coupled with knowledge of cloud computing, Linux server environments, network design and deployment, and infrastructure management, will set you apart.
