Join our Network Region Build (NRB) team to spearhead the deployment of greenfield infrastructure and establish network connectivity for new Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) regions. This role is crucial for enabling compute connectivity to child sites and involves building and managing diverse network components, including data center fabrics, edge networks, and backbone infrastructure.
Our team provides essential 24x7 operational support during build phases, overseeing network and server rack management, capacity expansions, and decommissions. We are dedicated to driving automation and process improvements in collaboration with our Network Automation team to continually enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, deploying, and operating extensive global cloud networks, leveraging a deep understanding of network protocols and programming expertise to support automation initiatives. You'll participate in network lifecycle management through build and upgrade projects, collaborating with program managers to define milestones and deliverables. Your responsibilities will include developing and executing network changes using existing procedures, and occasionally creating new ones.
Serve as the technical lead for team projects, contributing to roadmap development and leading the creation of new runbooks and standard operating procedures. You will mentor junior engineers, actively participate in network solution and architecture design, and develop standalone features. Operational duties include participating in rotation support and providing break-fix support. You will also act as an escalation point for incident remediation, lead post-event root cause analysis, and coordinate with automation services for tooling development and integration.
We are seeking candidates with proven experience in large ISP or cloud provider environments, coupled with hands-on expertise in commodity Ethernet hardware. A deep understanding of routing and transport protocols such as BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, TCP, IPv4, IPv6, DNS, DHCP, and MPLS is essential.
Proficiency in scripting and automation, with Python being preferred, is required for success in this role, alongside experience in datacenter design. Familiarity with automation frameworks, network modeling tools (YANG, OpenConfig, NETCONF), and telemetry systems is highly beneficial. A strong grasp of network security design, system performance testing, and operational monitoring is also expected. Excellent communication skills with a demonstrated ability to influence product direction are key.
