This role supports the design, deployment, and operation of a large-scale global Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), with a primary focus on network fabric and systems development through deep protocol-level networking knowledge and programming expertise. The work involves supporting a global cloud network with hundreds of thousands of devices and millions of servers across diverse infrastructure.

Collaborate with program managers to define project milestones and deliverables. While primarily utilizing existing procedures for network changes, you may also develop new ones. Create solutions to empower frontline support teams in managing network failures.

Mentor junior engineers and actively participate in network solution and architecture design processes, contributing to roadmap development. Engage in operational rotations and provide break-fix support, acting as an escalation point for incident remediation and leading post-event root cause analyses.

Frequently develop scripts for automating routine tasks and coordinate with network automation services for tooling integration. Work with network monitoring teams to gather telemetry, establish alert rules, and build dashboards to visualize data across network layers and device roles for issue identification. Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for software development projects related to network automation and monitoring.

Liaise with network vendor technical teams and internal Quality Assurance to resolve bugs and qualify new firmware/operating systems.

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related engineering field with over 5 years of Network Engineering experience, or a Master’s degree with over 3 years of relevant experience, is required. Prior experience in a large ISP or cloud provider environment is essential; experience with RDMA Networking is a significant plus.

Demonstrated experience in a network operations role is crucial. You should possess strong knowledge of protocols like MPLS, BGP/OSPF/IS-IS, TCP, IPv4, IPv6, DNS, and DHCP. Familiarity with VxLAN and EVPN will be highly advantageous.

Extensive experience in scripting or automation, particularly with Python, and data center design is expected. Proficiency in network monitoring and telemetry solutions, along with experience in network modeling and programming using YANG, OpenConfig, or NETCONF, is also necessary.

This role demands the ability to apply professional concepts to resolve complex issues creatively and effectively, working with limited supervision. Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills are vital. You will also influence product roadmap direction, features, and priorities, and participate in an on-call rotation.
