Engineer solutions to empower front-line support teams in managing network failures. Mentor and guide junior engineers. Actively participate in network solution and architecture design, contributing to roadmap development. Share responsibilities in operational rotations, serving as primary or secondary support. Provide critical break-fix support and lead post-event root cause analysis. Develop scripts to automate routine tasks for various teams and business units. Coordinate with networking automation services for tooling development and integration. Work with network monitoring to gather telemetry and establish alert rules. Create dashboards to visualize network data across layers and device roles, aiding in issue identification. Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for network automation and monitoring within software development projects. Liaise with network vendors and internal QA teams to resolve bugs and qualify new firmware/operating systems.
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related engineering field, complemented by 5+ years of Network Engineering experience, or a Master’s degree with 3+ years of relevant experience. Demonstrated experience in a large ISP or cloud provider environment is essential. Familiarity with protocols such as MPLS, BGP/OSPF/IS-IS, TCP, IPv4, IPv6, DNS, and DHCP is required. Proficiency in scripting or automation, with a strong preference for Python, is a must. Expertise in at least one scripting or compiled language is expected. Experience with network monitoring and telemetry solutions is necessary. Knowledge of network modeling and programming tools like YANG, OpenConfig, and NETCONF is beneficial. Ability to resolve complex issues creatively and effectively with limited supervision. Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills. Strong judgment in influencing product roadmap direction, features, and priorities. Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation.
