This Senior Manager role within Optum's User Experience Design Team is pivotal. You will lead a team of senior designers, reporting to the Senior Director of Product Design. The focus is on creating best-in-class, interoperable, and modern SaaS solutions by partnering closely with researchers, developers, and product managers, all while employing human-centered design methodologies.

Lead and mentor a team of senior product designers, guiding them in crafting compelling and user-friendly products. Develop detailed functional prototypes, static mockups, and textual specifications to clearly define the intended user experience. Collaborate effectively with key stakeholders, including UX Leads, Product Managers, and Development Managers, to identify, plan, and prioritize design initiatives. Actively participate in gathering research insights and conducting concept testing to inform and refine design decisions. Undertake design responsibilities for one or more projects, ensuring alignment with UX, technical, and business objectives. Champion user-centered design principles, advocating for research and accessibility throughout the design process. Utilize and contribute to established design pattern libraries and interface guidelines to ensure consistency and efficiency. Adhere to all employment contract terms, company policies, and directives, including those related to work location, team changes, and flexible work arrangements.

A minimum of 12 years in software engineering, technology, or a related field is required. Possess at least 5 years of dedicated UX design experience, with a proven ability in creating wireframes and prototypes. Demonstrate 5 or more years of experience with mature user-centered design and research practices, emphasizing simplicity and elegance. Have 5+ years of hands-on experience participating in user research and concept testing. Showcase a minimum of 3 years of proven success in managing and guiding multiple user experience professionals toward a unified vision. A portfolio showcasing relevant user experience project deliverables is essential. Exhibit excellent communication skills, with the capacity to articulate complex concepts clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences, including executive leadership.
