Oracle
Lead the strategic direction and execution for core infrastructure engineering, managing teams focused on building and optimizing scalable, distributed systems. This role involves setting standards for engineering practices, ensuring high throughput and hyper-scale workload optimization, and leveraging distributed state tools and data plane platforms.
You will guide teams in designing fault-tolerant, in-service-upgradable systems, establishing SLO-aligned durability and availability targets, and implementing crucial resiliency mechanisms like load-shedding and throttling. A key aspect includes providing oversight for KPIs, telemetry, and complex dashboards, alongside directing the design of functional requirements and advanced testing strategies.
Focus on proactive incident management, operational readiness, and robust on-call coverage. Drive best practices in encryption, access control, remediation planning, and compliance documentation. Oversee the development and maintenance of automation/IaC, and collaborate on change management plans for safe patching, updates, and rollbacks.
System Design & Architecture: Drive the development of scalable distributed systems, optimize code and systems for large-scale data processing, and define scalability requirements. Manage the use of data plane platforms for efficient data handling and ensure rigorous performance and load testing.
Reliability & Performance: Establish strategies for building fault-tolerant systems capable of in-service updates. Develop designs to handle service disruptions and lead implementation of load-shedding, throttling, and rate-limiting. Guide teams to achieve durability and availability targets aligned with SLOs.
Operational Excellence: Oversee the design and implementation of functional requirements and complex test scenarios, including fault-injection. Direct data replication and synchronization strategies for data integrity. Ensure proactive issue diagnosis, debugging, and resolution, minimizing customer impact and maintaining operational readiness.
Security & Compliance: Implement robust security measures, including encryption and access controls, and direct remediation plans for security gaps. Ensure comprehensive documentation and adherence to cloud infrastructure compliance standards.
Automation & Change Management: Oversee the development and maintenance of automation scripts and IaC. Partner with teams to create and follow change management plans for safe application updates and rollbacks.
Planning & Execution: Manage multiple medium- to large-scale projects, ensuring timelines and deliverables are met. Provide project direction, set priorities, and align with business needs, adjusting plans as necessary.
Collaboration & Partnership: Foster cross-functional partnerships to align expectations and objectives. Coach team members on developing strategic relationships and promote inclusivity by valuing diverse perspectives.
Problem Solving: Guide multiple teams in addressing complex operational and technical challenges. Analyze data to identify solutions and provide insights into critical issues.
Continuous Learning & Improvement: Model continuous learning to stay ahead of industry trends and integrate best practices. Identify skill gaps and empower team members to pursue learning opportunities, driving process and workflow improvements.
Performance & Development: Drive team performance through feedback and coaching. Support career development by sharing opportunities and aligning individual and organizational goals. Develop the talent acquisition pipeline through interviews and talent resource orchestration.
