Lead the development and implementation of AI and machine learning strategies across various healthcare domains. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize AI initiatives. Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, representing Consumer Engineering at Optum's global leadership forums.

Ensure the integrity of code design, implementation, data quality, and operational maintenance. Stay hands-on, continuously exploring new approaches and frameworks, with a strong emphasis on integrating AI/ML/Generative AI. Create technical specifications, write scalable code, and mentor other engineers to uphold quality standards. Drive product deployments using automated full-stack SDLC processes.

Serve as a role model by applying advanced techniques to optimize solutioning and product delivery. Provide leadership and accountability for the performance of managers and senior professionals. Drive impact at operational, local business unit, or market levels, ensuring compliance with company policies and employment terms.

A Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related discipline is required, along with a minimum of 14 years of experience in Software Engineering, Data Science, or Analytics. Specifically, 8+ years must be in AI/ML engineering or related fields, including 3+ years focused on Generative AI technologies (OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, LangChain, RAG, Vector Databases, Prompt Engineering, fine-tuning).

Proficiency is expected with AI/ML frameworks (MLFlow, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, Scikit-learn) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP). Experience with DevOps, CI/CD tools (Git, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes), and modern software engineering practices, including Agile and DevSecOps, is essential. The role demands hands-on experience in leading AI/ML teams and projects, developing innovative solutions, and strong Python programming skills for AI/ML development.

Expertise in AI/ML techniques such as deep learning, NLP, computer vision, recommender systems, reinforcement learning, and LLMs is crucial. Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills are necessary to articulate complex AI/ML concepts to diverse audiences. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, coupled with a passion for staying current with AI/ML trends, are key.
