Translate complex business needs into detailed technical designs, meticulously identifying dependencies and potential tradeoffs. Develop and maintain robust services, APIs, database-driven applications, and user-facing features with a focus on reliability, security, performance, and scalability.

Investigate and resolve intricate issues, gain proficiency in new codebases, and drive system improvements through practical, iterative changes. Utilize approved AI tools to augment code exploration, implementation, testing, debugging, and documentation, critically validating all AI-generated output. Integrate quality throughout development via automated tests, code reviews, and thorough validation of data integrity, backward compatibility, and performance.

Collaborate effectively with product management, UX, QA, and other engineering teams to define scope, manage dependencies, and deliver valuable customer outcomes. Actively contribute to technical decision-making, articulate tradeoffs, and pinpoint opportunities for architectural simplification and technical debt reduction. Mentor fellow engineers through constructive feedback, insightful design discussions, and proactive knowledge sharing. Continuously enhance development workflows using automation and AI, measuring improvements through delivery effectiveness, quality, and maintainability.

A minimum of 5 years of professional software development experience is required, with a proven track record of independently delivering features or significant system enhancements. You should possess strong proficiency in Java or a similar object-oriented language like C# or Python, coupled with a solid understanding of software design principles, data structures, algorithms, and debugging techniques. Extensive SQL and relational database skills are essential, covering data modeling, transaction management, query optimization, and troubleshooting.

Experience in developing web applications or services, including a clear understanding of the interplay between browser, service, API, and database layers, is crucial. The ability to design maintainable solutions and evaluate tradeoffs related to performance, reliability, complexity, and development effort is expected. Familiarity with automated testing, version control systems, code reviews, and continuous integration practices is necessary.

Proficiency in utilizing AI-assisted development tools effectively, or the aptitude to quickly learn them, is vital. This includes critically evaluating their output and adhering to security and data-handling protocols.
