Join WEX Mobility Engineering as a Sr. Software Engineer on the International Mobility team, focusing on fleet management and mobility payment solutions for EU and APAC regions. Design, develop, and maintain high-performance backend services using object-oriented principles. Create public REST APIs and internal gRPC APIs for seamless inter-service communication.

Lead system design decisions, drive alignment with senior engineers, and develop comprehensive automated tests, including unit, integration, end-to-end, concurrency, and load tests. Analyze existing systems to identify and address bottlenecks, technical debt, and implement scalability and stability improvements.

Implement automation for testing, monitoring, healing, and scaling applications, alongside continuous integration and deployment pipelines to accelerate time to market. Collaborate with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to define and deliver new features. Conduct code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and champion engineering best practices.

Troubleshoot complex issues, devise effective fixes, author root cause analysis documents, and ensure lasting system performance and reliability. Conduct comparative analyses of technologies to provide informed recommendations on solutions. Maintain essential documentation, including design docs, run books, and readiness plans. Provide live-site support, monitor production applications, ensure rapid incident resolution, and drive continuous improvement. Lead cross-team projects as a single-threaded owner or technical lead, actively unblocking other engineers.

A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering is required, alongside at least 5 years of professional software engineering experience. A strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, and problem-solving is essential.

Demonstrated expertise in designing and developing internet-scale services with a focus on scalability, availability, security, and reliability. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, coupled with a collaborative and empathetic mindset, are crucial.

Proficiency in backend development, particularly with Java or C#, and familiarity with frameworks like SpringBoot. Experience building and optimizing RESTful APIs, the ODATA framework, and SQL is expected. Experience with containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes is a plus.
